Emmanuel Lutheran School provides an academically challenging, Christ-centered education in a caring environment. We equip our students to succeed in their academic pursuits while becoming productive members of both church and society.

Emmanuel Lutheran School community

Located in Asheville, North Carolina, our student body primarily resides in Buncombe County. One-third of our students are members of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, while the remaining two-thirds come from other area churches or families seeking a spiritual home.

Academic Excellence

Our faculty is both experienced and dedicated, with each K-8 teacher holding a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree. Teachers follow professional development plans focused on individual skill growth and strengthening our overall academic program.

Emmanuel Lutheran School follows North Carolina State Standards as a guide for our curriculum. We review one area of curriculum each year on a 5-year rotation.

Each child has access to a computer or tablet during the school day. Middle school students are assigned a Chromebook for their studies.

Yes, ELS has an active PTL that hosts many activities throughout the year. Each classroom has a room parent that helps support PTL initiatives.

ELS works with Asheville City schools to support children who have difficulties. We have a teacher on staff who works with students needing additional support during the school day at no charge to parents. We also have an Orton Gillingham trained tutor for children with reading disabilities.

Our doors open at 7:30 am every day, with students admitted to classrooms at 7:45 am. Our aftercare program runs from 3:15-5:30 pm each day for an additional charge.

Our middle school students are well-prepared for high school through rigorous academics, development of study skills, and guidance on navigating academic and social situations. Many of our students attend public high schools and excel in honors/AP classes.

Transportation is provided by parents. There is no bus service to ELS.
