The middle school years are a critical time of transition and growth. At Emmanuel Lutheran School, our middle school program challenges students academically while providing the support and guidance they need to navigate these formative years.

Our middle school curriculum is designed to prepare students for success in high school and beyond. Students receive instruction in:

Preparing for High School

Emmanuel graduates are well-prepared for the academic and social challenges of high school. Many of our students go on to excel in honors and AP classes at their chosen high schools. Our teachers and staff guide students through this transition, helping them develop the study skills, time management, and self-advocacy they'll need to succeed.

Our middle school day runs from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Doors open at 7:30 AM, and aftercare is available until 5:30 PM for an additional fee.

Our middle school classrooms typically have 10-20 students per class. This small class environment allows for more individualized instruction and meaningful student-teacher interactions.

Middle school students take core classes in Math (Pre-algebra and Algebra), Language Arts (Literature and Grammar), Science, Social Studies, and Religion. They also participate in enrichment classes including Art, Music, Physical Education, STEAM, and Spanish.

Middle school students can expect approximately 60-90 minutes of homework per night. Teachers coordinate major assignments and tests to avoid overwhelming students with multiple major assessments on the same day.

Yes, middle school students (grades 6-8) can participate in volleyball, basketball, cross country, and other sports depending on the season. Fifth graders are eligible for most sports as well.

We recognize that middle school is a time of significant growth and change. Our teachers are trained to support students through these transitions. We emphasize character development, positive peer relationships, and problem-solving skills throughout our program.

Middle school students receive 15 minutes of outdoor time each day, weather permitting. Physical activity is an important part of the middle school experience, through both PE classes and athletic opportunities.

Parents have access to our online grading system to monitor student progress. Teachers communicate regularly through email and provide quarterly report cards. Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled twice per year, and teachers are available for additional meetings as needed.

Our middle school discipline approach focuses on teaching responsibility, accountability, and Christian values. We work closely with students to help them understand the impact of their choices and to grow from their experiences.
